Ampersandwich Tee
Dan Cederholm did it again. A deliciously looking new tee that’s just screaming to be worn.

Blue Beanie Day 2009
Today is Blue Beanie Day. Like me, you can also show your support for web standards by wearing the blue beanie (download the PSD).
Let’s take this viral, kids!

Remembering: The CSS3 Multi-Column Layout Module
Solid write-up on CSS columns, something you don’t often see being used in the wild.
-
Image management, naming and attribute selectors
I love it when Andy talks nerdy. Great reminder of why CSS is still exciting!

Build Conference Video Presentations
If you weren’t there, you should go next year. The great people from Build are uploading one presentation per week, free for you to enjoy. Do watch them, as all talks were stellar!

Smashing Magazine Killed The Community
[…] the problem is not when you take something and copy it, the problem is when you don’t push the idea further.
Return to being different.
A problem I didn’t realized existed. Good read, we need more people speaking up! Also read why he’s starting yet another webdesign gallery. (via)

On Self-Promotion
I could quote this entire article by Jeffrey Zeldman, but think this pretty much sums it up:
If you write or design, you must believe in what you do. If you don’t believe you have something to express, there are plenty of other jobs out there. If you believe in what you do, and if you’re doing it for real, you must find ways to let people know about it.

Log in or sign up?
Leah Culver talks about combining signup forms with login forms. It’s a nice concept, which removes a lot of form clutter. I think I like it.

Spammers, Evildoers, and Opportunists
Search Engine Optimization is not a legitimate form of marketing. It should not be undertaken by people with brains or souls. If someone charges you for SEO, you have been conned.
Derek Powazek goes on a bit of a rant about SEO, but he’s right on the money.
Which brings us, finally, to the One True Way to get a lot of traffic on the web. It’s pretty simple, and I’m going to give it to you here, for free:
Make something great. Tell people about it. Do it again.
Also read his follow up: SEO FAQ. Good stuff!

Flickr! It’s made of people!
You can now tag people in photos on Flickr, you know, like Facebook does, but better (example). 2 remarks:
- You can only tag people who have a Flickr account
- I hope Fraser updates FlickrExport with this new toy :)
